Peephole Hut

Cally Trench and Philip Lee performed Peephole Hut on 17th November 2016 in Visions in the Nunnery, curated by Cinzia Cremona and Tessa Garland, at Bow Arts, The Nunnery, 181 Bow Road, London.

Cally Trench and Philip Lee presented a black hut, which both hid and revealed the performers as they played and competed with each other within their golden lair. Viewers were invited to peer through the holes into the brightly lit hut from the darkened room. Games of Rock Paper Scissors determined whether the performers removed or retained clothing, ultimately resulting in their wearing each other's evening clothes, until a return to the hut allowed them to regain their own.

"Last night was surprising, intelligent, like an expedition to new country. You spoke about so many current concerns/issues." (Sophie Loss)

The Hut was made with technical support from Liam Biswell at the University of Westminster.

The film, which Cally Trench speeded up and edited, is fast-moving and jerky in the manner of old silent movies, with music written specially for the film in 2016 by composer Josh Hagley.
